The award-winning Wes Winters is one of the most popular and versatile entertainers in Las Vegas. With an extensive background in musical theater and performance skills honed through more than 38 years as a professional, Winters recently completed an amazing 15-year, 1,226-show run as the resident lounge act at South Point Casino in Las Vegas. His extensive vocal, stage, and piano abilities, combined with easy-going and open-hearted humor and charisma, have earned him a large and loyal following.
Winters astounds audiences with his high energy, one-man performances, featuring his ability to go from Jerry Lee Lewis to Barry Manilow, Big Band to Country, Andrew Lloyd Webber to Rachmaninoff, and most points in between. With credits including television, radio, live theater, composing, and producing—to name a few—his career has included numerous concert tour dates and private, corporate, and convention performances, not only in Las Vegas but throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America.
A Kansas native from an extremely musical immediate and extended family, Winters has a natural affinity for all things musical. Trained by his mom on accordion and guitar beginning at age 3, he was inspired to play piano at the age of 5 upon seeing famous pianist Liberace on television. Remembering discovering that music icon on a CBS Sunday night television special filmed in Las Vegas, Winters notes, "I had never seen anyone like Liberace before whose fingers moved so fast. I was mesmerized by his skill." Young Wes actively began listening and playing along to Liberace records, practicing 4 to 7 hours a day for the next 7 years. With an innate talent possessed by very few, he evolved to a self-taught pianist, playing "by ear.”
Moving to Las Vegas in 2003, Winters won the Liberace Play-A-Like Competition the same year. Because of his showmanship and expert ability, the judges said they knew within the first minute of his performance they had their winner. He went on to conceive, write, produce, and star in "A Musical Tribute to Liberace" at the world-renowned Liberace Museum. Reflecting on his successful 4-year 8-month engagement at the museum, he notes, "I enjoyed a great run at the Liberace Museum" and was gratified by the naming of "The Wes Winters Showroom" in his honor. Winters is not an impersonator or look-a-like but a "sound-a-like the moment his fingers hit the keys" according to several reviewers. His tribute show captured the spirit, enthusiasm, and legendary showmanship that made Liberace an icon to millions of people throughout the world.
